Girls Empowerment Program (GEP)

The Girls Empowerment Program (GEP) is a key Zinduka initiative aimed at protecting and empowering girls who have undergone or are at risk of FGM/C. Together with local partners and communities, the program creates opportunities for education, exchange, and long-term prospects for girls and their families.

In the workshops, the girls address important topics such as health, rights, and self-determination. At the same time, we actively involve parents, family members, and community representatives in dialogues and collaborative learning processes.

Home Visits & Support

Direct interaction with families fosters trusting relationships. This opens the door to new conversations about the protection of girls and gender equality, and has been shown to lead to shifts in perspectives within the communities.

Media & Dialogue

This work is complemented by radio programs and community dialogues that reach hundreds of thousands of people each year. In this way, GEP combines direct assistance for girls with the transformation of social norms.
